Clinical Content Optimizer for Epic Groupers
Groupers are a data structure in Epic™ that allows grouping of clinical entities based on some classification. For example, groupers link drugs by therapeutic use, or associate diseases with their medications and lab tests. Groupers can be used to enrich the information that is displayed in Epic, showing what’s been prescribed for the patient’s condition in the Problem List, for example.
All this sounds great… but until clinical content is developed and loaded to activate groupers, they can’t perform!
Until now, Epic customers have had to develop their own clinical content. Convening analysts and clinicians to develop catalogs of content means a big investment; and keeping up with changes such as newly-available drugs is a never-ending task. We curate content so you don’t have to
QPID’s Clinical Content Optimizer for Epic Groupers is a new way to more efficiently leverage the power of groupers to optimize the clinical user experience. Developed in collaboration with Epic to ensure compatibility, our subscription service delivers a robust set of clinical content that is updated on a regular basis. The first deliverable includes content related to the top 100 diseases. That means over 6000 medications and 2500 lab tests, represented by over 9700 mappings. QPID Health has solved a problem that is shared by our colleagues throughout the Epic user community: How to eliminate the ad hoc creation of clinical content for Epic groupers, and the use of in-house clinical resources for a time-intensive process. The volume of work becomes overwhelming when you try to accommodate changes, which are constant. QPID Health eliminates this by providing a body of validated clinical content that is updated on a regular basis.
