Health system to implement QPID Health to support quality improvement initiatives
Boston – August 11, 2015 – QPID Health, which helps hospitals and medical groups complete quality and registry reporting more efficiently and thoroughly, today announced that Providence Health & Services has selected QPID Health’s software for use at its Everett facility.
QPID Health reduces the time and manual effort required to prepare quality reports and registry forms. Registry participation improves quality of care by providing access to outcomes data and best practices that can be applied at individual facilities. Participation traditionally requires expensive clinical resources – either in-house or outsourced – to manually abstract information for submissions. Since 75-80% of the patient information registries required is found in clinical notes rather than coded fields, labor costs for abstraction are high.
“Many leading health systems face new and formidable challenges: an ever increasing set of quality mandates that require mining information from patients’ medical records that is often trapped in notes and text fields, which have been historically impossible to report on in an efficient manner,” said Mike Doyle, QPID Health CEO and President. “Health systems recognize that these mandates may make unsustainable demands on labor. QPID’s software helps to locate and synthesize patient details to dramatically reduce the time it takes abstractors to prepare these reports and ensure no relevant details are overlooked.”
Hospitals across the country use QPID Health’s software for quality reporting. With QPID, skilled clinical personnel are no longer forced to manually scan records and then input patient information into registry forms. Reports are more thorough and faster to produce because abstractors can see more complete information with less effort. QPID Health customers such as Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Massachusetts General Hospital, Newton-Wellesley, North Shore Hospital and Silver Hill Hospital, as well as their respective physicians organizations, are focusing clinical resources on quality improvement by using QPID to expedite quality reporting.
Providence Health & Services is the third largest not-for-profit health system in the United States and is located in five states along the West Coast ranging from Alaska to Southern California. The System operates 34 hospitals and includes 5,000 practicing physicians.
